A native of the Coastal Bend, Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Texas Women’s University. Her professional breastfeeding journey began after the birth of her son when she became a La Leche League Leader. She now holds a certification as a Breastfeeding Specialist. In addition to her own personal experiences of breastfeeding each of her three sons, her knowledge as a dental hygienist makes her uniquely aware of oral tissues and how they affect infant feeding. Early recognition of abnormal tongue or tissue ties can allow parents to seek the appropriate provider for specialized care. Having personally experienced both in-hospital and birthing center deliveries, Katy is acutely aware of the limited at-home resources for breastfeeding support, especially when a mother chooses not to birth in a hospital. She works closely with Corpus Christi Birth Center and teaches classes on breastfeeding and how to use essential oils for pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. She uses dōTERRA essential oils in home and in her practice. Katy has a profound desire to share her personal and professional experiences to help parents achieve their breastfeeding goals.
